Lessons/Points:
Each lesson will usually have two components:
• Class participation.
• Homework assignments.
Points will be awarded to students who participate in class. Those who show up but fail to talk or mention anything in a discussion will not receive as many points as students who participate in the whole lesson.
Attendance/Homework:
Herbology classes work on a 3 strike system.
Any unexplained absences from class without an explanation will result in one strike against the student. If a student fails to attend the second class, I will send them a message to let them know that they have a second strike against them. If a student fails to attend the third class, I will drop them from the class.
Therfore, if you know you are going to be away for any reason or have missed classes, please let me know so I can exclude you from the strike system. I will also send you any homework that you can make up at the most convenient time.
Homework assignments will be given to students at the end of the current class and will be due by the end of the next class. Homework is to be sent to the Professor by OWL.
Points will vary depending on the work each students puts into their answers but usually will range between 0 - 5 points per answer for simple questions to 10 points for essays or journal entries.
Passing/Grades:
There will be four classes that will run every term. At the end of the last class for term, I will be posting the questions that will be on the final. You will need to get those into me ASAP so I can grade them and average out your score. Your final can make or break you if you haven't been participating and doing the homework.
All students must get at least 60 points to qualify passing this course. However, please note points towards your final marks will only come from answering questions in class and homework. Attendance is just an added incentive.
In order to pass my class, you must achieve at least an A. Your marks will be averaged at the end of term.
Grades:(O) Outstanding = 90 – 100 points.
(E) Exceeds Expectations = 75 - 89 points.
(A) Acceptable = 60 -74 points.
(P) Poor = 45-59 points.
(D) Dreadful = 30-44 points.
(T) Troll = 0-29 points.
Classroom Rules and Regulations:
• School rules apply to this classroom.
• Lessons must always be on topic. Don’t spam my class.
• Respecting others is absolute.
• Don't expect to pass if you only show up and then leave.
• If a student knows they are going to be absent they can OWL me.
